Data Validation Trials

Pitcher3D slugged it out with the global gold standard optical motion

capture system to validate our Data Suit’s data accuracy and reliability.

Optical System Comparison

Pitcher3D’s Data Suit uses fuss-free sensors (linked by a proprietary cabling system) attached to the user’s bones – and no cameras.

The gold standard mocap requires 24 high-res cameras and multiple reflective marker application. The same action was recorded independently in each system and later compared and analysed.

The Process

Simple solo-use operation is an integral part of the Pitcher3D Data Suit - and it records automatically.

By contrast, to capture the optical data, the trials also used:

Take Pitcher3D Data

The optical system used the C3D format to record the shots and set them aside for later use. Unlike Pitcher3D’s immediate ready-to-use data, some of the optical data needed to be “solved” before it could be used  - taking a few days to complete.

Both data sets were analysed by allowing the model to run freely – so the data can speak for itself. Plus, all data is raw - no filters – to show its integrity before applying any filters. The results are in. The April data was no fluke.

Bone Angles in
